Young Adults -- Welcome to Westminster!
WESTMINSTER YOUNG ADULTS
Who we are...
People in our 20s to early 30s who meet at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Des Moines, Iowa.
Our purpose...
To provide open-minded, supportive fellowship for young adults who believe in God’s love.
What we do...
-
Book Club meets the first Sunday of each month from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Westminster’s Simmerman Lounge. We select a book to read each month and meet to discuss it. The books vary in genre and topic, but all tie into faith in some way. We value your suggestions for book choices, so please let us know!
-
Social events take place in our homes, local venues or the church.
-
Bible Study (September through May) is a discussion-based gathering focused on using Bible verses to help us enrich our daily lives and bring us closer to God. Our Bible study meets the second and fourth Sundays of each month at 10:00 a.m. in Room 307. This fall, the class will resume their study of the DVD curriculum “Saving Jesus.” The tag-line for the series states, “Ever feel like Jesus has been kidnapped by the Christian Right?” This new approach to Bible Study is an exploration of Jesus Christ for the third millenium.
-
Mission includes feeding the homeless at a local shelter, greeting at the church on Sunday mornings, etc.
SUMMIT (Summer Mission Team)
SUMMIT is a summer internship for college-age young adults who want to serve others by working in the community and the church. SUMMIT provides participants with the opportunity to give of themselves, gain valuable internship experience, and receive a grant to further their education. Click here for more information.
