Opportunities for Youth (grades 6-12)
At Westminster, we believe our youth can teach us much about God, faith, and spirituality. If you are in grades 6-12, please consider joining us for the journey!
Grades 9-12: Wednesday night activities are the heart of the senior high program – an hour and fifteen minutes of music, discussion, Bible study, projects, and prayer. No two weeks are the same, but each week we try to grow a little closer to each other and to God. New senior high youth are always welcome! During the summer, the youth travel out-of-state on a mission retreat each year. Those who are graduating from high school are invited to apply for an internship with SUMMIT (Westminster's SUMmer MIssion Team). Click here for more information.
THE GROUP
On Wednesday nights, our sixth and seventh graders enjoy games, tackle mission projects, and learn how the Bible speaks to us in the 21st century. A summer mission retreat is an annual event for the Group.
CONFIRMATION
Confirmation is an opprtunity for eighth-graders to explore their faith and learn about church membership. The Confirmation Class meets during Westminster Wednesday, from September through April. For information, e-mail Kellie.
THE GROUP/HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR
Youth in grades 6-8 sing in the Group/High School choir, which rehearses on Wednesday nights and sings periodically for the Sanctuary worship services. For more information,
All youth are invited to participate in one of several handbell choirs.
SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR GRADES 6-12
Sunday school classes for Westminster youth are relevant and engaging. On Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. (September through May), grades 6-8 meet together in Room 305 for Pre-Confirmation, and grades 9-12 meet in the Senior High Room. For more information, e-mail Kellie.
CACTUS FINE ARTS CAMP (Creative Arts Camp: Together Under the Sun)
This unique day camp offers youth entering grades three through eight the opportunity to immerse themselves in the arts! Master teachers lead campers in vocal development, Orff instrument instruction, Kodály techniques for music literacy, drama, motivating musical games, dance, visual art and handbells. The next CACTUS camp will be held in July 2012. High school students are invited to participate as classroom assistants, and recreation leaders. Click here for more information.
