Seeking a More Just World…
The mission statement for the Social Justice Committee states: “Recognizing that God calls us to act on our faith, our mission is to articulate the need for awareness and provide information about social injustices. Our goal is to achieve a just and accepting society, through the conscious changing of behaviors, both individually and corporately.”
Social justice activities at Westminster include sponsoring exclusive use of Fair-Trade coffee and bio-degradable paper products, as well as offering classes, book discussions, fund-raisers and awareness building for justice-related concerns. These activities promote careful examination of issues such as ecology, global warming, racism, human rights, immigration, mental health parity, the death penalty, gambling, gay/lesbian advocacy, societal violence and more.
