Sign Up for February 2 Blood Drive!
You can help save three lives when you donate blood! Our next Blood Drive will be held from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, in The Commons. Call 274-1534 or email Joan Mahaffey to sign up.
Pancake Breakfast on February 5 to Benefit Senior Highs
Join Westminster friends for delicious pancakes, sausages and beverages before worship, this Sunday, February 5. The Westminster Senior Highs will be serving up great pancakes from 7:30-8:30 a.m. in Westminster Hall. A free-will offering will be received, with all proceeds going to the Westminster Senior Highs to help fund their summer mission trip.
“Souper Bowl” Organ Concert Set for February 5
On the day of the “big game” the Westminster Fine Arts series will present our own Ruth Harris in concert on our magnificent Dobson tracker organ. Join us Sunday, February 5 at 3:00 p.m. The concert is free of charge and child care will be provided. A reception will follow the concert in The Commons. For this year’s concert, the Fine Arts Series is joining with the “Souper Bowl of Caring,” a nationwide effort to address hunger. Please bring a canned good or non-perishable food item, or make a monetary donation at the concert – all proceeds will go to the Des Moines Area Religious Council’s Emergency Food Pantry to feed the hungry in Des Moines.
Tuesday Club Returns on February 7
After a respite for the holidays and the month of January, Tuesday Fellowship Club will resume on February 7. Join TFCers for a roast pork lunch in Westminster Hall at 11:45 a.m., followed by a program by Dr. Richard Deming. He will talk about his travels with cancer survivors to Tanzania and to Mt. Everest's base camp in Nepal. Please call the church office, 274-1534, to make lunch reservations.
Fine Arts Series Art Exhibit Continues through February 19
The artwork in the Sanctuary and Narthex compose the current Westminster Fine Arts Series Art Exhibit, based on the theme “Spirit, Hand, Vision: A Confluence of Self.” The exhibit continues through February 19, and can also be viewed Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and weekends, 8:00 a.m. to noon. Stephen Ministry to Begin Training for New Stephen Ministers
Westminster Church has an active Stephen Ministry program that works quietly behind the scenes, providing care to those in the congregation who are facing difficulties in life. The new training course begins on February 21. For more information about Stephen Ministry, click here.
