Ways to Get Involved
So, you’ve visited Westminster a time or two and are looking for ways to get to know the church and its people a little better. This website is full of information about different programs and activities, but let us suggest a few good “points of entry” for folks new to Westminster.
Sing in the choir...
Singing in the choir is a great way to meet people! From September to May, the choir rehearses on Thursday nights. During the summer, try the Summer Choir. For more information e-mail Randy.
Check out our All Things Considered Class…
The All Things Considered Adult Class meets every Sunday, September through May, from 10:00 to 10:50 a.m. in Westminster Hall. It’s a big class and people come and go. Every Sunday is designed so that a first-timer feels welcome. For more information e-mail Mary Beth.
Join a small group…
From basketball to Bible study, Westminster's small groups offer individuals a place to belong, gather with others and share common interestes, study, learn and grow. We have a wide variety of small groups, both spiritual and social. If you are looking for a deeper relationship with God, a way to cope with the concerns and issues of life, a chance to participate in sports, or a way meet new friends, there's a small group that's just right for you! Serve a meal to the homeless…
Central Iowa Services & Shelter, located in downtown Des Moines, provides safe, emergency shelter, meals, and supportive services for homeless men and women without charge, regardless of personal circumstances. Westminster volunteers prepare food at Westminster and serve meals at the shelter on the 22nd of each month to over 100 guests. Additional volunteers provide homemade desserts for this monthly meal. To get involved, e-mail Lynda.
